Full & partial rewires

Much of the housing in Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush was wired decades ago. Rubber or early PVC cable, lighting circuits with no earth, and sockets added on spurs over the years all add up to an installation that is tired and sometimes dangerous. A rewire replaces it with cabling and circuits designed for how you live now.

What's included

Full & partial rewires: what you get

  • A circuit design for today's loads, with enough sockets, dedicated kitchen circuits and provision for future EV charging or heat pumps
  • New cabling throughout, chased into walls and run under floors, with floorboards lifted and refitted with care
  • A new consumer unit with RCBO and surge protection
  • Coordination with your builder, plasterer or decorator so first fix and second fix fit the programme
  • Full testing, an Electrical Installation Certificate and Part P notification

How it works

Full & partial rewires in three steps

  1. 1PlanWe walk the property with you, agree socket and switch positions room by room, and give you a written quote with the number of working days.
  2. 2First fixCables, back boxes and the consumer unit go in while walls are open. This is the dusty part and we protect floors and furniture.
  3. 3Second fix and certificateAfter plastering we fit sockets, switches and lights, test every circuit and hand over the certificate.

Why 2K for a rewire

A rewire is the job where planning matters most. We agree every socket and switch position before we start, protect the parts of the house we are not working in, and put floorboards back properly rather than screwing down loose ends. The certificate at the end is only worth something if the work behind the walls was done properly, and ours is.

Questions

Questions about a rewire

Do I need a full rewire or a partial one?

If the cable is sound but the board is old, a consumer unit upgrade may be enough. If an EICR shows degraded cable, missing earths or many C2 codes, a rewire is the sensible fix. We give you an honest answer after looking.

Can I live in the house during a rewire?

Many clients do, room by room, but it is disruptive. If you can be out for the first fix week, it is quicker and cleaner for everyone.

How long does a rewire take?

It depends on the size of the property and how much is being redecorated at the same time. We put the number of working days in the quote. A flat is usually measured in days, a house in weeks.

Does a rewire need Building Control approval?

Yes, it is notifiable work under Part P. As an NICEIC registered contractor we self-certify and notify Building Control for you.

What customers say

“2K Electrical were really friendly when he came over to give a quote. We decided that 2K Electrical Services would be good for the work and was available almost immediately. We wanted our fuse box moving and subsequently he replaced some wiring for the kitchen and plugs by lifting up the floorboards. He seemed to be really attentive with taking the floorboards up with minimal damage. Thanks 2K.”
