Smart home, CCTV & data

Reliable Wi-Fi in every room, cameras you can check from your phone and heating you can control when you are out all depend on cabling done properly. We install the quiet infrastructure that makes a smart home work, during a refurbishment or in a finished house.

What's included

Smart home, CCTV & data: what you get

  • Cat6 structured cabling to TV points, offices and access point positions, terminated in a tidy patch panel
  • Ceiling-mounted Wi-Fi access points powered over Ethernet, installed to the new Section 716 of BS 7671, so there are no dead spots
  • CCTV cameras and recorders, wired rather than wireless where it matters
  • Video door entry, intercoms and access control for houses and small blocks
  • Heating and hot water controls, smart thermostats and zone valves wired correctly

How it works

Smart home, CCTV & data in three steps

  1. 1PlanWe agree where you need wired points, cameras and access points, and where the equipment will live.
  2. 2CableCables are run during first fix or discreetly in a finished property, labelled at both ends.
  3. 3Terminate and testEvery data point is tested, cameras are aligned and apps are set up before we leave.

Why 2K for smart home and data

Data and CCTV work is often done by whoever is nearest rather than by a qualified electrician, and it shows in loose cables and unsafe power supplies. We do it as part of the electrical installation, with the same testing and tidiness, so it keeps working after the installer has gone.

Questions

Questions about smart home, CCTV or data cabling

Is wired networking still worth it with modern Wi-Fi?

Yes. Wi-Fi is only as good as the cable feeding the access point, and TVs, consoles and desks are better on a cable. We usually combine both.

Do you supply the cameras and equipment?

We can supply and install, or install equipment you have bought. Either way we tell you first if something will not do what you want.

Can you wire a smart thermostat without a neutral?

Many older heating circuits lack a neutral at the thermostat. We either run one or choose a model designed for two-wire systems.
